Ballots Are Coming! Check Out Our Interviews with the Candidates in the Democratic Primaries

As I mentioned earlier in the week, Montana Democrats have an excellent array of candidates running for office all over the state. We’re not only going to field some tested, experienced candidates in November, but we’re building a strong bench for future races. While we didn’t get every statewide Democrat running for election this year, I am pleased that we were able to conduct thorough interviews in most of the races, and the thing I like most about the interviews is that the candidates gave thoughtful, lengthy responses to our questions.

I learned a lot about the Public Service Commission in our interviews with Tom Woods, Monica Tranel, and Daniel Carlino, for instance.

I think we see some clear contrast between Kathleen Williams and Tom Winter in their interviews.

It was hard not to be impressed with our candidates for Attorney General, Raph Graybill and Kim Dudik.

While the Senate race changed dramatically once Governor Bullock entered the fray, we had the chance to sit down with Wilmot Collins and John Mues, two people I certainly hope to see running in future races.

And our interview with Mike Cooney offered a personal look into his career in Montana politics.

We didn’t get every candidate we wanted and we’re holding out hope for a few more candidates to get back to us, but I’m proud of the work we did in these seventeen interviews, our first foray into podcasting.

I hope you’ll consider listening to a few or subscribing to the podcast as you consider your choices over the next month.

Finally, I’d love some feedback as we go forward.

  • Did you find value in the interviews?
  • What could have been better?
  • Would you be interested in a short weekly show where we invite guests and talk about Montana politics?
  • Would you prefer never to hear my voice again?

Drop me an e-mail at dpogreba@gmail.com, leave a comment here, or drop me a note on Facebook.

Thanks!

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
