Let’s Give Steve Daines a Chance to Raise Money for Those Affected by Coronavirus in Our Community

We all know that Steve Daines isn’t exactly brave. Montana’s very junior Senator refuses to meet with constituents in public town halls, preferring the comforts of pre-screened calls on managed telephone town halls that ignore the needs of most of Montana.

But like most cowards, Daines is a blowhard. Days after condemning others for “politicizing” the coronavirus pandemic, Daines has been on Twitter non-stop the past few days, politicizing the hell out of the crisis and demanding that Senate Democrats vote a terrible bill that will give President Trump a $500 billion slush fund and not even protect workers from losing their jobs at the altar of CEO pay.

Given that the Republican mantra during this crisis seems to be that money matters more than human life, I knew that just asking Daines wouldn’t be enough: I had to put some money on the table.

So, I created a GoFundMe to raise money for the cause. If we raise $1,000 and Daines holds a publicly announced, unscreened Facebook Live event to take questions and defend his position on the coronavirus bills, I will donate the entire sum to the food charity of Daines’s choice. If we raise the money and he refuses to meet with us, I’ll donate the whole sum to Planned Parenthood in his name.

This crisis is not a time for cowards to hide behind partisan talking points and monologue their constituents; it is a time for leaders to dialogue with them and come up with creative, practical solutions that put Main Street businesses and families ahead of Wall Street and CEOs. It’s time for Steve Daines to explain where he stands.

Steve Daines claims that he is one of us, that he stands with us.

It’s time for him to show it.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.

  • “Politicizing” or keeping the constituency informed? Unlike Jon Tester and babbling Joe and you support Pelosi’s, now 6 trillion, pork-a-thon then you have the huevos to ask for money. You never let a serious crisis go to waste. Virus Relief Hits Pelosi’s Pork in the Road, do Democrats even care? Mark Cuban erupts on Sens. Chuck Schumer and John Cornyn over stalled stimulus talks: ‘Do your f***ing job!’ Patience running thin. Maybe a Thursday or Friday vote now. People are dying and the dems do this.

$35 million to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. $300 million to the National Endowment of the Arts, another $300 million to the National Endowment of the Humanities, $100 million for NASA, $278 million to the IRS.

Pelosi’s legislation stipulates: “Any corporation that receives federal aid related to COVID-19 must maintain officials and budget dedicated to diversity and inclusion for no less than 5 years after disbursement of funds.”

The oversight panel set up to distribute the funds “shall collect diversity data from any corporation that receives Federal aid related to COVID-19 and issue a report that will be made publicly available no later than one year after the disbursement of funds.”

Pelosi’s legislation would require companies to supply a comparison of pay among sexes and racial and ethnic minorities. They would have to equally hand over to the government demographic data on their corporate boards, the “reporting structure of lead diversity officials,” and the size of the budget and staff of offices dedicated to “diversity and inclusion.”

Pelosi’s bill would order the Securities and Exchange Commission to set up a Diversity and Advisory Group composed of college professors, government bureaucrats, and members of the private sector to carry out a study that would propose strategies to “increase gender, racial and ethnic diversity” on corporate boards.

Even grantees that hire service personnel who assist elderly households “shall consider and hire, at all levels of employment, and to greatest extent possible, a diverse staff, including by race, ethnicity, gender and disability status.”

The bill proposed by Pelosi, D-Calif., additionally seeks to eliminate debt held by the U.S. Postal Service, require same-day voter registration, pay off $10,000 in student debt per person, mandate that airlines reduce their overall carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2050, and force federal agencies to explain to Congress how they are increasing their usage of “minority banks.”

$1 billion “to build on program expanded by President Obama that provides discounted phone service for low-income consumers.” The “Obamaphone” program, which gave cell phones to poor people under the broadband benefit, stashed $9 billion in private bank accounts and was rife with fraud.

And, the legislation would provide for the automatic extension of nonimmigrant visas and restrict colleges from providing information about citizenship status.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Thursday said she can’t answer for why pork-barrel items snuck into the debt and spending bill that passed Congress late Thursday, but said the press should stop focusing on that and instead look at the broader debt fight.

People are dying and all Nancy Pelosi and Democrats can focus on is ripping off the American taxpayer to help pay for their liberal wish list of government handouts.

Can you vote for a democrat and support this?

    • @mark – People have been struggling and dying for years, particularly the last three, and all Moscow Mitch and Greasy Graham and the other bottom feeders in the GOP have been able to focus on is ripping off the American taxpayer to make rich people richer, big corporations bigger, and reinforce a two-tier society that leaves the poorer 90% as a permanent underclass.

How many bills, crucial for the benefit of all Americans, have been sitting on McConnell’s desk for how many months while he plays his nasty, hyper-partisan games to destroy our democracy?

Like the so-called president, you don’t even qualify as a human being, much less a citizen.

        • The White House and Senate leaders reached a breakthrough deal shortly after midnight Wednesday on a massive and historic $2 trillion coronavirus relief package for workers and businesses, not Nancy’s and Dem’s 6 trillion.

Steve Daines, “While the Senate continues not acting, Montanans are getting sacked. We must give relief NOW!”

Where was Jon Tester? Playing cards with Hunter Biden? LOL

Now there will be a Thursday or Friday vote in the House. That process might involve a voice vote with a skeleton crew, essentially requiring unanimous consent — meaning just one House member could kill the vote.

          Remember in November.

          • You know that Daines was speaking to an empty chamber, right?

And Tester was with the grownups, crafting the deal while Steve screamed on Twitter and to an empty Senate chamber.

It’s pretty amusing how easy it is to play conservatives.

        • @mark – You like to pretend that you’re “informed” by repeating the crap you hear from the AM radio idiots, so how come you haven’t answered my questions? How many bills has Moscow Mitch stalled, for how many months, and how many millions of working class people have been harmed by his filthy partisanship?

Inquiring minds would love to see your answers……….

    • “But under the Trump administration, “it just sat as a document that people worked on that was thrown onto a shelf,” said one former U.S. official, who served in both the Obama and Trump administrations. “It’s hard to tell how much senior leaders at agencies were even aware that this existed” or thought it was just another layer of unnecessary bureaucracy.

The NSC playbook would have been especially useful in helping to drive the administration’s response to coronavirus, given that it was intended to guide urgent decisions and coordinate the all-of-government approach that Trump so far has struggled to muster, said people familiar with the document.”

Trump has lied, downplayed and bungled this crisis since Jan 2020.
