Senate Candidate Wilmot Collins Issues Strong Statement on Climate Change, Farmers and Ranchers, and Need for Transition to Clean Energy Economy

Written by Wilmot Collins, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate

We face an imminent environmental, social, and economic crisis unlike anything we’ve ever seen: climate change. As the next Senator from Montana, I will do everything in my power to address this threat.

Global climate change is undeniably a defining issue of our time. We must address and slow climate change with boldness and urgency. Our farmers are already feeling the devastating impacts, our recreation economy is being impacted, and our families’ futures are at risk.

Together, we can rise to meet the climate challenge.

Add your name to join the fight.

I’m asking you to believe in science and to be a part of the extraordinary efforts it will take to save our planet from climate catastrophe.

I’m asking you to help move us into the new clean energy economy and provide jobs for Montanans in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and environmental restoration.

I’m asking you to help protect the most vulnerable among us, from low-income Montanans who are unduly burdened by the rising costs associated with climate change to basic necessities like health care and food, to our farmers and ranchers who provide our food but face increased periods of drought and other natural disasters.

It’s critical that we act now to address the threat climate change poses to our state, our country and our planet. We have too much to lose by continuing to ignore this important issue. And with an abundance of resources to provide, Montana has much to gain by transformation to a clean, reliable and resilient energy sector.

Stand with me in the urgent fight to address climate change. Sign the petition now.

Thank you,

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
