Kathleen Williams Stands Up to the NRA, Stands Up For Montana Kids

From Kathleen Williams’s remarks at the March for Our Lives:

I’m Kathleen Williams and I’m running for U.S. Congress. Thank you to the organizers for inviting me to speak to you today.

I stand here full of respect and admiration for each and every one of you, who is working to change a system that is so obviously, heartbreakingly broken.

It has been said that our students are the leaders of tomorrow – well, it looks to me like you are also the leaders of today.

I also stand with those who can’t be here, with the hundreds of kids, educators, staff and family members killed in nearly two hundred school shootings since Columbine. And I say to you, “Enough is enough.”

For three terms in the Montana Legislature, I repeatedly voted against extreme bills that would have deregulated guns on college campuses and forced bars, restaurants, and churches to allow guns anywhere. I’ll take that record to Congress.

I pledge to you that in Washington D.C., I will protect our schools from gun massacres. I will support legislation designed to keep military-style assault weapons off our streets and out of our schools.

If the NRA wants to give me an “F” for that, then I will proudly stand with YOU, and say that “F” means “fearless.”

I admire your courage and tenacity in demanding an end to the violence and fear that is so very real to you every day. Together we can do better. Together we can make our schools safe. I join you in saying, “Never Again!”

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
