As Montana Burns, Gianforte, Daines and Zinke move to Slash Disaster Relief Funding

Here we are again, I recently shared how Gianforte, Daines, and Zinke appeared at the Lolo fire to politicize the Montana fire disaster and promote a debunked narrative about forest management, all while refusing to engage with their Montana constituents in a meaningful and productive way.

Now instead of fighting to help Montanans, they are working with Trump to slash the budget for disaster relief agencies so they can give tax breaks to billionaires and corporations. You read that right, you would think elected officials would care enough to fight for Montana and find some extra pennies in the budget rather than stealing the money for their wealthy donors. Sadly, this is not the case.

This incredibly inept trio of opportunistic politicians are trying to change the subject while they actively work against the best interests of their constituents to defund the programs we need to defend ourselves against this oppressive fire season.

This junket that the tricky trio took had nothing to do with helping fight these fires or delivering for Montanans with federal dollars or services. Instead, it was about placing blame and going for a political win, rather than helping those in need, putting the fires out, and doing their jobs.

Why has Secretary Zinke not secured the massive 747 SuperTanker the “World’s Largest Firefighting Aircraft”? Why didn’t he ask USDA Secretary Purdue for more firefighters and resources when they flew around the state last month?

What would Senator Daines tell the evacuated citizens of Seeley Lake about prioritizing tax cuts for the rich instead of their homes and community which are at risk of being destroyed by fire?

Perhaps Daines could tell them at a town hall?

How would Congressman Gianforte propose that these folks pay their bills as they can’t work while evacuated? Doesn’t he realize these people are not millionaires, like himself, and will be unable to recoup their losses?

Shouldn’t every resource available be used to help these evacuated towns and get people back to their lives? Sadly, expending the necessary resources for fire fighting cuts into this trio’s margins for hand outs for the ultra-rich.

It’s time for Daines, Gianforte and Zinke to start delivering or they can just stay in D.C. with all the sellout politicians, we don’t need them here in Montana, they aren’t fighting for Montana, they don’t care about Montanans. It is obvious by their phony smiles and backstabbing policies.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
