Orlando Vigils in Helena, Missoula, Bozeman, Great Falls, Butte

From Big Sky Pride.

The attack in Orlando was unconscionable. But we stalk stand, and as we gear up to celebrate our wins, this is a stark reminder of why we must fight.

It is a matter of life and death.

Come stand with us, tonight, and if you’re in another city, please post the location so we can let everyone know where to meet.

  • Helena: Capitol Steps 8pm
  • Missoula: the Oval on campus 9pm
  • Bozeman: Gallatin County Courthouse on Main @9pm
  • Great Falls: Federal Court House, 215 1st Ave N, 8pm
  • Butte: County Courthouse Steps on Granite, 8pm
  • Billings: Grace United Methodist Church, 8pm

And any other cities, please post the location and let us know.

Today is a day for grief. And tomorrow will be a day for righteous anger.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.

  • Hi Don –

Enormously successful rally in front of the Court House at 9:00. I’m guessing (not my forte) at least 125 people, maybe more.

Probably 90% from the LGBTQ community, old and young. They obviously did a good job getting their community out.
It appeared to be well covered by both the newspaper (which doesn’t publish on Mondays) and a couple of the networks.

Thanks for the rallying cry – it’s what I sent out, as did others.

    Peace, Dan

  • A somber, emotional evening in Missoula. Perhaps 150 there with speakers who were hurt and confused but advocating peace, love and an end to the senseless violence. Lots of hugs, which helped.

  • Besides hugs just what are the gays doing?

“Gun sales to gays and lesbians are skyrocketing in the wake of the Orlando terror attack.
Alleged Islamist Orlando attacker Omar Mateen was “angered” by watching two men kiss, according to The Daily Beast. His alleged attack on a gay nightclub–Pulse Orlando–killed approximately 50 and wounded 53.

Fox 31 Denver reports that gun sales to gays and lesbians are now through the roof. George Horne owns Denver’s The Gun Room and he says business “for this time of year…[is] three to four times what [they] normally have.” He and other gun store owners and instructors say the surge isn’t unprecedented–there is usually one after a high-profile attack–but what is unprecedented are the numbers of gay and lesbian customers.”-Hawkins.
