Not The Bio You Want

Today it was announced that Corey Stapleton is running for Secretary of State. Here’s the bio that accompanied the news:

He was the Senate minority [leader] in 2007 when lawmakers failed to pass a budget for the first time in recent memory, forcing a special session.

Stapleton lost the 2012 Republican gubernatorial primary to former U.S. Rep. Rick Hill. He lost the 2014 primary for the state’s U.S. House seat to Rep. Ryan Zinke.

That’s not the bio you want. He will be facing off against Monica Lindeen.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.

  • What a bio!
I would walk a long, long way to my polling place, if it came to that, to vote against Corey Stapleton. Does the man need a burning bush or some other kind of sign from on high to understand that Montanans do not support him?

  • How about spinning his resume this way:

Stapleton was the Montana Senate’s minority leader in 2007 when lawmakers had the courage to reject a flawed budget that was improved in a special legislative session. In 2012, his primary challenge to GOP gubernatorial nominee Rick Hill sharpened Hill’s campaigning skills almost to the point of coming within shouting distance of Steve Bullock in the general election. And in 2014, his primary challenge to Ryan Zinke resulted in battle hardening that enabled Zinke to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
