Montana Politics The Media

How to Brand

In the advertising and marketing world it’s referred to as branding.  I’m sharing this video not so much for political reasons as for how to produce a video.  It’s what I did in my past life.

Despite your feelings on Sen. Jon Tester (and some of my associates at a site where I used to post are not big fans) this is how you brand.

The company that produced it is out of Big Sky, Mont.  There’s a lot of dinero floating around there so I imagine the company is familiar with big dollar productions that use state of the art equipment and a quality crew.  But hey, at least it’s a Montana company. One of my biggest pet peeves is a politician who says he/she is all about jobs for Montanans and then hires L.A. producers, directors, camera operators, etc., to shoot their TV spots.

The name of the production company is Outlaw Partners.

I’m not sure who the target market is for this spot, why it was produced or where it’s going to air.  (I wasn’t consulted.)  Tester isn’t up for election until 2018.  Maybe someone out there knows the reasoning behind it.  I just know it’s quite well done.

Update: The video is an accompanying piece to a piece Senator Tester wrote for Mountain Outlaw, which is distributed in Montana and on the Empire Builder. Senator Tester did not pay for the piece or video. –DAP

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
