Proving you can’t keep a good bigot down, Senator David Howard is back to posting his typical hate-filled nonsense on his Facebook page, this time posting a link to a diatribe suggesting that homosexuality does not exist, was merely created by “a memoir writer who had associations and friendships with pederasts,” and can be cured through harmful “reparative” therapy.
Some choice quotes from the author, who has even less scientific credibility than Senator Howard’s claims to have been an FBI agent:
“Heterosexual” and “homosexual” are not legitimate identities folks, this is fiction for purely a socio-political agenda right out of the gate. From the false “heterosexual” and “homosexual” dichotomy, the term “sexual orientation” came about. And nothing fits the “religious worship of the flying spaghetti monster” more than that. So-called “sexual orientation” is a term spawned out of the false “heterosexual” and “homosexual” dichotomy.
Most people who don’t agree with promoting and pushing homosexual practice as something good and positive, like myself, do not deny that there are people who have embraced homosexuality as an identity. We may not agree with it, but we don’t deny that people have embraced such fiction as part of their core being.
Attempts to ban the right to self-determination when it comes to therapy is akin to the Dred Scott case in 1857… and the homosexual activists are the modern-day slave owners.
It’s “damn you, you be dammed!” for even thinking about leaving their plantation!
Now, I’d be tempted to ignore Senator Howard’s nonsense but for the timing of his post, which came just minutes before the Senate voted not to bring Senator Christine Kaufman’s SB 179 which would have offered anti-discrimination protection for sexual orientation and gender identity. It’s one thing for Senator Howard to be an angry, bitter crank driven by an irrational (and troublingly personal) antipathy towards homosexuals; it’s another entirely for that bitter crank to have a vote in Montana’s Senate—and using it to deny rights to all of the people of our state.
