Oath Keepers Play Dress Up for the Apocalypse in Idaho

The Associated Press offered a surprisingly generous story about a three day jamboree of a group of self-proclaimed survivalists, John Birchers, and assorted whack jobs, including state representatives from Washington and Idaho who met to prepare for the inevitable collapse of the American economy.

Enough virtual and real ink has been spilled about the state of a political party whose members are actively rooting for the collapse of the country that I’ll avoid discussing it here, but that won’t prevent me from mocking them just a bit.

My favorite part of the “Patriots & Self Reliance Rally” is that these rugged, self-reliant individualists chose to meet at Farragut State Park in Idaho. I’m presuming they enjoyed the roads to the park and the amenities offered there, including paved parking lots, restrooms with electricity, and well-lighted areas to practice target shooting.  And attendees didn’t need to worry about getting lost on the way there, as volunteers posted signs on the highways around the camp site to help direct attendees.

If that Emersonian rugged experience wasn’t enough, the speakers covered topics ranging from “Sharp Knife/Hot Flame” to “This is JBS,” “Common Core is Here!” to “Hand Made Water Purifiers.” Don’t worry! The kids were covered, too, with “free market activities” at the open market.

Montana’s own invasive species from Florida, Chuck Baldwin, was one of the speakers at the event, and I imagine his topic was bilking gullible conspiracy theorists for all they’re worth.

No word on whether John C. Calhoun was able to attend.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.

  • Sigh! If people talked like this around 1943, they would be arrested for treason.

I can bet that not one of those nutcases, who camped next to paved roads, had anything to say about the republicans in congress who are trying desperately to destroy the country so they can play all of their war fantasies for real.

So where is the jobs “Leadnecks”??? You’re so worried about your gun rights you don’t even see the ammo and gun manufacturers screwing you. If I buy even Montana Ammo here in the state from the manufacturer, it costs more than online from a Texas store.

    Figure that one out.

Seems to be the same for gun shops that build in this state as well. They are taking their sales to the gullible to a new higher level. Even heard our top notch preppers were their at the rally selling the apocalypse.

Dumb folk are so easily parted from the all mighty dollar…. and happy to give it to those manufacturing fear…. and the vendors are selling mostly chinese and, Israeli gas masks, so we don’t even get a production bump or extra jobs from this crap.

So much for helping the USA economy

    • So your selling the lies too B ig Joke??? Michael Snyder is a fundamentalist wack-job and Christian crank who has started numerous blogs as a testament to his raging insane belief that the world is about to end…. Doesn’t seem to faze Snyder one bit that every one of his past predictions of economic collapse were dead wrong. Apparently you believe in his horrendous track record, and raving codswallop.

So do you equate anyone who hasn’t accepted the word of God like he has equivalent to rapists, murderers and child molesters? Michael does

Do you believe it is not a sin to drink providing dont feel any effects of alcohol Otherwise its a sin. Bwahahahaha He does, the guy is a raving lunatic.

Now I definitely wont believe anything you say you believe in a loon!

      • I don’t believe that everyone else is an idiot. If only it were that simple.

There are layers … Don’s post here is really saying “I am morally and intellectually superior to my opponents,” while you’re saying “Yeah, that’s a typo.” One of the two of you is a little more complex.

        • I agree, Mark. Making fun of you is very simple. And for the record, when one is morally and intellectually superior to another, there is no shame in saying as much. Yet, ‘withote’ any evidence, you make that claim all the time. Perhaps the one blind to the mirror pool is you?
