Derek Skees Defends Harris Himes, Because “He Doesn’t Know” if He Broke the Law

There’s probably a reason that the Montana Republican Party didn’t send any of its slushDerek-Skees-and-Denny-Rehberg-300x200 fund over to Derek Skees. Even they realized that spending money on Skees’ doomed, illogical campaign was a waste of the hard-earned money of their corporate masters. Yesterday, Skees made news defending Pastor Harris Himes from Hamilton. Himes, you might recall, is charged with a series of felonies stemming from trying to steal the life savings of a friend.

Enter Derek Skees, who told the Associated Press that he is an idiot:

Skees said he believes that Himes was picked on for his religious beliefs although Skees said he doesn’t know whether Himes committed the crimes.

"You are innocent until proven guilty," Skees said.

Wrap your brain around that for a moment. Skees “doesn’t know” if Himes committed the crimes, but believes he was picked on for his religious beliefs. He believes people are “innocent until proven guilty,” but accuses the Auditor’s office of misconduct with no evidence.

While I’ll admit that I certainly don’t know all of what the Auditor’s position entails in Montana, though I definitely know more about it than Mr. Skees, I can say with confidence that our Auditor should pursue those who break the law just as Ms. Lindeen has done, not offer them a legal defense with no knowledge.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.

  • Pogreba hasn’t read the brief showing what the whistle blowers from Lindeen’s office said. There is Christian bias in that office, according to people from the inside, and that is shameful. But keep your head in the sand, that is the safest way to go.

You must be of the ilk that if they are charged they must be guilty.

    • I am going to try to use logic on you. Get ready. This will assuredly hurt you.

Your last comment suggests you believe that it’s wrong to believe someone is guilty simply because someone has charged him/her with something.

The premise of your first comment is that, because someone has accused Lindeen’s office of bias, it must be true.

Those together make no sense. They contradict each other.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  • Strange logic. I didn’t say the information was a fact. But it should have been considered in your diatribe in praising Lindeen and attacking Skees and Himes

Time will tell but your progressive liberal friends may be out this election. We can always pray they will be.

  • Derek Skees doesn’t know if Harris Himes broke the law because…..
    1. Derek Skees doesn’t even know what the State Auditor regulates! (if it had been a Nigerian bank scam he might know) Oh wait, that is regulated by the AG office!
    2. Aren’t Derek Skees and Harris Himes buddies???

  • Skees has the same demented persecution complex that Himes has. He never thinks its his nutty and unsupportable views that cause him to be assailed it has to be bias against his faith and patriotism. He probably also has a bright future as a “Christian” huckster and conman when he is finally removed from the government gravy train and hopes to learn a few tricks of the trade from Harris.

    • Jack Ruby, I think that you are correct. If he had his way we would be flying the conferderate flag across the State and reinacting North/South battles on Veterans Day. Himes and Skees need each other. I think that Skees has to say something in the defense of Himes just in case Skees wins and just in case Himes is not found guilty of his crimes so they each have someone to lean on in the future and have each others backs! (haha) I am hopeful that the people of Montana despite their political affiliation, can see past Derek Skees and the idiot this man is.
