The Good News Continues at Lee Enterprises

Lee Enterprises seems to be doing very well:

Newspaper group Lee Enterprises Inc reported a third-quarter loss, hurt by a slow economic recovery in all its markets.

The company, which refinanced its debt in January after filing for bankruptcy in December last year, reported a loss of $1.5 million, or 3 cents per share compared with a loss of $155.5 million, or $3.46 per share, a year earlier.

I take no pleasure in reporting this, because good people will likely lose their jobs as Lee imposes even more cutbacks on its newspapers, but at some point, doesn’t the company’s board have an obligation to identify the failure of leadership at the top?

Don’t worry. Apparently the top two corporate officers at Lee still received their bonuses totaling $750,000.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.

    • Hell, the GF Spitoon isn’t even THAT sophisicated! They simply give a weekly column to one Col. James V. Dumbschmit in order to rehash all the Rush Limpballs talking points for the week! It’s a sad, pathetic way to go, but I guess the Spitoon has decided to try to increase their circulation using the Rush Limpballs’s type of journalism. They gave this moron a column because they felt that we needed another “military, conservative” view on things. And so far, we’ve been treated to even MORE Cretin Kearns type writing! (with NO rebuttal allowed!) The Spitoon has now become a state daily equivalent to all the small town Ag newspaper that print all the latest rightwing crap. In other words, this new moron adds NOTHING to the conversation at all. But HEY, guess that’s what they want as they hasten their own demise.

And the really sad thing is that the Spitoon USED to be the ONLY independent newspaper in the state. Well, them days are over.

    • And thank Allah for that! Or whatever mythical diety you prefer. You see, Al Jazeera is a very reputable news organization. I would watch it more often if I knew how. But HEY, sorry that I can’t share your bizarre fear of the Mooselims. I just can’t get too worked up over ANY religion. They’re all pretty much equally goofy and dangerous.
