Montana Politics

Bob Wagner’s Tin Foil is Wearing Thin

If you have ever wondered how low the Montana Republican Party has sunk, you just need to take a peek at the latest post over at MT Cowgirl, in which we learn that Republican Representative “Birther” Bob Wagner has commanded the Secretary of State to demand even more proof that President Obama is a legal citizen of the United States.

Reading Wagner’s letter, though, I was surprised that it seemed to follow basic rules of grammar and usage, including correct spelling of multisyllabic words. That’s when it hit me. Wagner didn’t write the letter; he merely copied it from the Internet.

A duly elected member of the Montana legislature took it upon himself to use legislative resources to send an online petition under his own name to the Secretary of State, wasting state time on utter nonsense.

One only hopes that no Nigerian scammer gets Mr. Wagner’s e-mail address or the next session will be devoted to finding enough money to send cash via Western Union to collect an inheritance for the state.

Electing Republicans to the Legislature means giving idiotic “theories” like this a venue. Let’s select members of the reality-based community this year.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.

  • NO!, Pogie! Not Birther Bob! Look, we alREADY lost Jumbo Jimmy Knoxious! We NEED some clowns for comic relief!

  • Yes Pogie, get rid of Birther Bob, Larry will find us comedy, he'll just have too work a little harder before sipping on a beer! ( Sorry Larry you know I love you)

  • Given where I live, it shouldn't be a surprise that I know a few folks from Madison county, quite a few actually. The not so funny part is that next to none of them I've asked could name their own state Rep, Billy Bob Wagner. Yet they almost all reliably vote Republican, and Wagner's re-election is almost assured. I find that reasonably tragic given the number voices currently desperate to tell us all how Democrats only vote for party, and pay no attention to the actions of who we elect.
