New Study on Cannabis and Driving

A Canadian study has shed more light on the dangers of driving under the influence of cannabis. It seems that drivers under the influence of cannabis are about twice as likely as unimpaired drivers to get into a major car accident. This is one more reason federal policy needs to change so that marijuana can be prescribed and treated like any other medication (rather than as a bizarre, pseudo-legal medicine), including provisions to prevent or discourage driving under its influence. It also gives more empirical evidence of something that seems obvious – while it does no favors to one’s ability to drive, cannabis is in fact less dangerous than alcohol on the road.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
