It’s pretty difficult to go anywhere in Helena without running into a lobbyist or politico of some sort—in fact, usually groups of them, as they tend to travel in packs. The one thing I keep hearing from them is that it’s all but certain that Tim Fox will be announcing another bid for Attorney General very soon, with an announcement coming as early as next week.
Multiple, reliable sources have indicated that Fox is not so quietly beginning the process of ramping up a campaign and raising money. Given his unsuccessful foray into Twitter, one hopes part of his campaign will involve hiring a social media team.
It’s certainly news to warm a Koch Brother’s heart, given that they are quite likely to continue supporting him while he supports their radical, anti-Montana, anti-worker agenda.
Fox’s entry into the race certainly shouldn’t come as a Shockley to anyone given the current Republican candidate’s fundraising difficulties, but it does underscore how important it is for Democrats to choose a strong candidate who will be ready for attacks from the opposition.
In his bid for AG against Steve Bullock, Fox distorted Steve Bullock’s record shamelessly, all while ignoring the real issues an Attorney General must focus on. A 2012 campaign from Mr. Fox is quite likely to continue that pattern.
