Real Loss to Helena: RIP Queen City News

I’d heard last week that Helena’s independent weekly the Queen City News was shutting down, but couldn’t get confirmation so I held off posting, mostly hoping that the news wasn’t true. If today’s story in the Independent Record is correct, Helena has certainly lost a valuable news resource and vehicle for community discussion.

It’s tough for an independent paper to make it, even in a one daily town. I just want to thank Cathy and her writers for having provided often critical, occasionally hilaroous news and insight over the past few years.

I know I won’t the only one who misses reading it every Wednesday.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
