Helena Physician’s Clinic and St. Peter’s Hospital

KXLH is reporting that patients seeing doctors at the Helena Physician’s Clinic who need to go to the hospital will not be able to use their doctor from the HPC. A letter from Drs. Brian Weitz and Jim Maher blames call coverage and the St. Peter’s hospitalist program for the decision.

I’m glad to see the story get covered; it’s long been rumored that doctors in Helena are dissatisfied with their relationship with St. Peters and a number have either left practice or moved to other communities as a result.

It will be interesting to see how this story gets covered in the Independent Record, which has written a number of glowing PR-style pieces about hospital expansion in the past couple of years.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
