You’ve got to love this: apparently unable to find any meaningful work, former Bozeman Representative John Sinrud and former Montana Representative Ron Marlenee, have teamed up to form a lobbying group. Their mission? To promote natural resource development and to line the pockets of two totally irrelevant, right-wing hacks.
Too harsh, you say? Well, Representative Sinrud’s record speaks for itself.
As for Representative Marlenee, I’m afraid that he may have lost touch since losing to Pat Williams in 1992. After all, how insane do you have to be to believe something like this?
Marlenee said the partnership will not be affiliated with any political party, but added:
“Because we’ve got to move back to the basics in Montana, we’ve got to also move back to our conservative roots. I and others in the nation are disenfranchised. We can’t allow extremists to run the country.”
Of course, despite their pro-worker, pro-job rhetoric, Marlenee and Sinrud are creating yet another fringe, anti-labor Republican front group who will desperately dig for as much money as they can from businesses, who would be much better off spending their money on benefits and training for their workers.
In fact, this news is probably good news for Montana’s labor movement. Can you imagine a worse lobbyist than someone like Sinrud? With his uncompromising idiocy, he’ll probably end up convincing some Republicans in the Legislature to become union supporters.
Go get ’em, boys. Montana’s unions couldn’t ask for better enemies.
