The news about Conrad Burns staffers editing his Wikipedia entry is finally making the news in Montana today, despite Liesa highlighting it at Left in the West some time ago and me tipping off the local paper over two weeks ago. It’s not a huge story, perhaps but interesting.
It’s probably unfortunate for the Morrison campaign that they are criticizing Burns for misinformation when their Boot Burns blog misrepresents the Bozeman Daily Chronicle’s article about the issue, and the edits made to the Wikipedia site by Burns’ staff. The BB blog claims that the edits were about Abramoff, but that isn’t the issue at all. If you’re going to criticize a guy for misrepresenting his record, you might want to make sure you are accurately representing what he has done.
Update: The BB Blog has updated the information on their site to take down the Abramoff claim. When I sent the tip into the IR, I went through the wiki logs to see where the edits were from–and the only one that could be traced to Burns was the elimination of his controversial remarks. That’s not to say they didn’t edit other things.
Kudos to the BB Blog for making the correction.
