A Mild Prediction

Given the report by Bill Gertz in the Washington Post about Russ Tice, a former NSA employee who is prepared to testify about improper actions by the NSA and DIA in Special Access programs, it seems clear that a number of things will happen in the next few days:

  1. Tice will be attacked by partisans in the same way that Richard Clarke was following his 9/11 testimony. The accusations won’t be true, most likely, but
  2. the media will cheerfully present a ‘balanced’ point of view, by repeating the Republican talking points uncritically
  3. the issue will be connected to 9/11 again. Eventually, Dick Cheney will make the argument that this program, too, could have prevented the attacks.

Anyone want to take the bet on the prediction?

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
