Cindy Sheehan: Stalinist? 9/11 Linked to Iraq? It must be crazy Ann Coulter time again!

Like a determined but untalented high school debater, Ann Coulter is back, this time attacking Cindy Sheehan. I feel a little bad for Ann–as she gets further away from any credibility, her comments are just more shrill and pointless.

She starts with some good stuff:

To expiate the pain of losing her firstborn son in the Iraq war, Cindy Sheehan decided to cheer herself up by engaging in Stalinist agitprop outside President Bush’s Crawford ranch. It’s the strangest method of grieving I’ve seen since Paul Wellstone’s funeral. Someone needs to teach these liberals how to mourn.

Stalinist. Stalinist. A grieving mother, demanding answers from her semi-democratically elected president, is Stalinist? Not the person, hiding on his ranch, refusing to speak to the people, refusing to acknowledge the possibility that his war is wrong? Not the person who has purged all dissidents from his administration, surrounding himself with a bunch of like-minded party hacks? Not the person who hides from public view the death of the soliders he professes to support? Not the person who uses tax dollars for for a pro-military celebration?

Yeah, the grieving mother is definitely the Stalinist.

As for the Wellstone crack, get some new material. Given that you and your hack friends in the right distorted and I daresay, propagandized, the death and funeral of a decent man, perhaps it’s not the most appropriate example.

And, again, when argumentation (such as it is) fails, one can’t overlook the lie. Ann again:

We’re sorry about Ms. Sheehan’s son, but the entire nation was attacked on 9/11. This isn’t about her personal loss.

This isn’t about her personal loss. America has been under relentless attack from Islamic terrorists for 20 years, culminating in a devastating attack on U.S. soil on 9/11.

Liberals demand that we listen with rapt attention to Sheehan, but she has nothing new to say about the war. At least nothing we haven’t heard from Michael Moore since approximately 11 a.m., Sept. 11, 2001.

I get so confused. I mean, I know the 9/11 Commision, Bush, Cheney, and all the rest keep saying they never claimed a connection, but they seem to keep claiming a connection. Weird. It’s almost like they are trying to trick us–like they think we are simple minded, and will be distracted by pathetic lies and ad hom attacks against the people who are principled enough to say ‘no,’ to say ‘enough’.

Cindy Sheehan and the millions of Americans who know this is an immoral, failed war will not be silenced. They will not give in. And the longer the Right clings to the fantasy that opposition to this war is unimportant, the stronger they will become.

And, as for the C-list celebrity shot? Pot, Kettle.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we would certainly appreciate it.
