Standing Together After the Worst Week Yet: Flirting With Fascism(Video)

I survived, and if you are reading this then you survived the worst week, so far, of the Trump administration.

We not only survived, we stood up and said no more. We raised our voices and said no more concentration camps for children. We said no more separating families. We said no more internment camps for migrant workers.

Big shout out to Jordan Dyrdahl-Roberts for saying no, not just taking orders and bringing that Montana message of disobedience to Washington D.C. Someone needed to say it and this is a citizen-led movement, we need to make the elected officials rally behind our leadership.

Yesterday’s marches to keep families together were just the beginning and we cannot just be against this insanity. We must stand up for our values, a woman’s right to make choices about her body and her health, we must fight for LGBTQIA+ folks, we must stand up and fight for Social Security, Medicare, healthcare for all Americans, a living wage of $15 an hour, renewable energy and infrastructure investment married with public works jobs.

We must give voters a reason to vote for our candidates and not just against the fascists.

We survived this week, the journalists at the Capital Gazette newspaper weren’t so lucky. After a week where the President goaded this attack by continuing his attacks on the free press as the “enemy of the people” and one of his strongest supporters called for this shooting, it finally happened. A Trump supporter was radicalized and driven to violence against the free press by the President of the United States and his henchmen.

Worth a watch and definitely worth thinking long and hard about.

The President is under investigation for rigging the 2016 election, colluding with Russian Dictator Vladimir Putin and he is actively undermining the United States economy with tax giveaways to the rich and tariffs against our allies, the safety of all Americans is being undermined by abandoning the Iran Deal and allowing nuclear rearmament of Iran, and Trump has ignored and defaced the principles of the Constitution that this nation is founded.

While a special prosecutor investigates the President he cannot be allowed to place another Koch Brothers pick on the United States Supreme Court.

From the Washington Post:

Now we have a Supreme Court nomination — the second in as many years — from an unpopular president who lost the popular vote by 2.8 million. The nominee will be forced through by also-unpopular Senate Republicans, who, like House Republicans, did not win a majority of the vote in 2016.

Compounding the outrage, each of the prospective nominees is all but certain, after joining the court, to support the eventual overturning of Roe v. Wade, which has held the nation together in a tenuous compromise on abortion for 45 years and is supported by two-thirds of Americans . For good measure, the new justice may well join the other four conservative justices in revoking same-sex marriage, which also has the support of two-thirds of Americans. And this comes after the Republicans essentially stole a Supreme Court seat by refusing to consider President Barack Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland.

You can only ignore the will of the people for so long and get away with it.

What are you willing to sacrifice to make sure he is stopped?

Will you miss a day of work? A week?

Will you buy a plane ticket to Washington D.C.?

Are you willing to be arrested in a peaceful act of civil disobedience to ensure the future of this country and the world?
