Who Will Get Custody of Matt Rosendale? The Unhinged President or His Former Advisor Who Lost His Mind?

Shares

Today must be a tough one for Matt Rosendale, who is likely feeling torn between his fealty to an inept, bumbling, semi-literate East Coast real estate developer who happens to be President and his devotion to a quasi-fascist head of a right-wing news outlet that quite possibly has never written a true statement.

Trump or Bannon? As the two leading lights of the modern Republican go to war, who will Maryland Matt Rosendale side with?

Back in October, Rosendale received the endorsement of Steve Bannon and was so excited about it that he posted a picture of the two of them on Twitter, writing “”Met w/ Steve Bannon a few weeks ago. Thrilled to have earned his support!”

But in the same release, Rosendale, who likes talking about helping President Trump “make America great again,” said that he wants to get elected to the Senate to advance the Trump agenda:

“President Trump’s agenda is good for the nation and great for Montana. And right now we have a tremendous opportunity to implement it. But clearly, there aren’t the 51 votes needed in the Senate to move the ball forward.”

Despite Bannon’s firing from the White House and the internal squabbling between Trump and Bannon over supporting a pedophile judge for the Senate, all seemed right to Rosendale, who was certainly counting on the fundraising that Trump and the Breitbart disinformation machine could provide his candidacy.

That got a bit more complicated today, though, when President Trump and Steve Bannon went to war.

Bannon, who certainly knows both being unpatriotic and treachery, is quoted in the new book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, argued that a campaign meeting between Donald Trump, Jr. and a Russian lawyer to discuss dirty tricks against Hillary Clinton at Trump Tower, was some bad business:

In an excerpt from Michael Wolff’s book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, obtained by The Guardian, when asked about the meeting Bannon reportedly said, “Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”

Bannon was also certain, according to the book, that Trump Jr. took the participants of the meeting to meet his father.

In his typically cautious, reasoned style, the President of the United States, a man who has the full support of Matt Rosendale, issued this statement today:

Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind. Steve was a staffer who worked for me after I had already won the nomination by defeating seventeen candidates, often described as the most talented field ever assembled in the Republican party.

All of this would seem to put Mr. Rosendale in a difficult position, as he has actually endorsed both men and their policies. Given today’s news, does Rosendale stand by the President who almost certainly colluded with Russians to subvert the American election or the former advisor Trump says “has lost his mind”?

Either way, he should be made to answer the question, although it’s certain whatever answer he gives won’t change the fact that he doesn’t, and won’t, stand for Montana.
