While Troy Downing is swearing his undying fealty to Donald Trump in a desperate campaign e-mail, Matt Rosendale is proving his loyalty to the the Huckster-in-Chief by doubling down on his support for embattled Alabama ephebophile Roy Moore. In an interview on Voices of Montana, Rosendale said that Moore deserved his day in court, making it clear that he believes the women charging Moore with offenses ranging from assault to creepy solicitation are lying. As are the security staffers who said that he was a known threat at an Alabama mall, Moore’s former co-workers at the DA’s office, and other locals who remember Moore’s behavior.
None of that is enough to temper Matt Rosendale’s ardor for supporting Moore and currying favor with President Trump.
Rosendale went further than offering a defense of Moore’s rights, arguing that he has served honorably for the past 20-30 years.
“As far as Judge Roy Moore, to me, it looks like the actions that he has taken as his public service, over the last I would guess 20, 30 some odd years has been honorable and I would commend him for that,” Rosendale said.
That’s a fascinating point of view about a man so corrupt and unwilling to follow the law he was twice removed from the Supreme Court in Alabama, a man who believes the last time the United States was great was during the time we had slavery, and a man so awful that even Ivanka Trump said there was “a special place in hell” reserved for him.
Let’s not also forget that Moore is a tax cheat, conman, xenophobe, and racist. It says a great deal about Mr. Rosendale that’d commend someone like Roy Moore as an honorable person, doesn’t it? I’m not sure what “honorable” means in Maryland, but here in Montana it sure doesn’t describe a child-abusing, lawbreaking bigot. Montana’s better than the Bannon-Breitbarts of the world. It’s too bad that Matt Rosendale isn’t.
