Daines stands with Trump

Shares

Embracing the intolerance and paranoia of our chief executive, Sen. Steve Daines is standing with President Trump in blocking refugees from sanctuary in the United States.

Trump’s executive order suspended entry of all refugees to the U. S. for 120 days, barred Syrian refugees indefinitely, and blocked entry into the U.S. for 90 days for citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

From Daines’ Twitter account:

Here’s the link to his account but it’s not recommended reading if you have a weak stomach. Fortunately, the tweeted comments to this statement, and many similar declarations he has made, tend to call the Senator out on his xenophobia.

I don’t usually use People magazine as a source but came across this snippet posted today:

According to the Washington Post and Bloomberg, Trump’s ban did not include any of the Muslim-majority countries where the Trump Organization — which is now being run by his sons — holds business interests. Those countries reportedly include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, the U.A.E. and Azerbaijan … (of) the major terrorist attacks that have taken place on U.S. soil since 9/11 … zero fatal attacks were carried out by immigrants from the seven Muslim-majority countries targeted by the ban.

The 19 men (who carried out the 9/11 attack) were associated with al-Qaeda, a decentralized terrorist network, at the time led by Osama bin Laden. Of the 19 hijackers, 15 were from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates, one from Egypt and one from Lebanon.

That Daines supports the posturing, fear-mongering and pandering of this administration is unconscionable. And he calls himself a Christian.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we\'d certainly appreciate it.

  • Don’t forget the barking seal! Confucius say don’t make endorsements with HEAD up azz! Guess that slinky missed that one!

        • Pete and readers,

Sorry for terribly long comment. Skip paragraphs you want to.

Must be tough for Senators to closely, analytically consider/study what’s happening.
Fast fire fascist type fiat decrees are working wonderfully well. Who can react to decrees that DAPL and the Keystone KXL Pipeline proposal must soon receive Permits.

Also the Presidential Memorandum NSC decree detailing how NSC works.
SIMPLE, ALL NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL ACTIVITIES/DOCUMENTS GO THROUGH ONE PERSON, THE PRESIDENT’S APPOINTED CHIEF OF STAFF.

Go to http://www.whitehouse.gov. Click on Presidential Actions. Read for yourself the NSC Memorandum. Here’s an excerpt.

“In addition to the NSC and HSC, there is also a single NSC staff within the Executive Office of the President that serves both the NSC and HSC. The staff is composed of regional, issue-focused, and functional directorates and headed by a single civilian Executive Secretary, pursuant to 50 U.S.C. 3021, who is also the Chief of Staff. All policy and staff activity decisions will be transmitted to the Executive Secretary for appropriate distribution and awareness.”

Let’s see, if friction with Chief of Staff Reince Priebus degrades to schism and separation and new Chief of Staff, that could, or could not be, a triumph over the Reince Priebus base and wings of the Republican Party.

But a big sector of the USA would feel comfortable because the Appointed Chief Strategist-NSC Executive Secretary Bannon would remain in place, because he is not a well ranked Republican. But is a well ranked media publican, a cultural hero, an adversary against wimpy pluralism.

But isn’t Steve Bannon a lot more than a Strategist. Certainly a dramatist. Certainly has been a supremacist. Certainly a highly productive implementer; look into his recent flurry of Presidential Actions and give Steve credit where due. He’s a quick on his feet Managing Director of Operations.
          He may be irreplaceable.

Given who now Represents Montana in Congress, I’d like to ask contenders for the soon empty Montana seat in the House of Representatives, to inform us of their views on DAPL, and KXL. Yes, also the NSC. This is no damn time to support fearful contenders.

  • How many more innocent people have to die before you get on board. Have you had a loved one shot in the back of the head or stabbed in a public place? 12,571 Syrian refugees admitted last year 2016 under Obama alone. Unknown amount of illegal aliens also here. How many more attacks and deaths in the US will it take?

    • Can you list one person in the U.S. who has been “shot in the back of the head or stabbed in a public place” by a Syrian refugee? I didn’t think so.

      • See below, and I won’t go into all the undocumented aliens that have committed rape and murders. You need death at home to bring you around? Keep Hollywood as your adviser and see where it leads. Note the Miami Mayor has spoke up and said they are not a sanctuary city and they are still cleaning up from their airport shooter.

Syrian refugees were responsible for two terror attacks in Germany. The first took place in Reutlingen where a man stabbed five people, killing one woman before being taken into custody by local police. Another Syrian refugee blew himself up outside a music festival in Ansbach. Fortunately, no one was killed but 15 people were injured in the blast. This attack follows a stabbing on a German commuter train where the attacker, an Afghan refugee, pledged allegiance to ISIS. Fortunately, no one was killed in that incident.

  • A tad bit of Montana History 101. The week after Congress debated about a refugee problem, Dean of the Montana Senate, Fred Thomas and 55 Montana Legislators, 11/20/15 signed a letter urging Governor Bullock to block or resist allowing refugees from Syria to immigrate into Montana.
Overnight 30 or so Governors signed on to blocking refugees from Syria.
Montana History 202 would relate how much social media FIRST contributed to the block Syrian refugee Political meme/theme seeming overnight obsession.
I saw firsthand how Ravalli residents got rapidly mediated to get angry about refugees from Syria.
Ravalli Republicans eventually summarily occupied a Middle School to make Public statements in front of TV Cameras.
Saying stuff like: “We are here to protect our women.”

  • American voters are in favor of blocking immigration from “terror prone” countries, according to a newly released poll. “American voters support 48 – 42 percent suspending immigration from ‘terror prone’ regions, even if it means turning away refugees from those regions,” states a press release from Quinnipiac University.

“Our first priority should be the safety of Americans,” says Tino Altavilla, a freshman at King’s College in northeast Pennsylvania.

  • There’s a reason that I gave up on organized religion a long time ago. It’s because they’re all b*llshit and have done arguably more harm than good throughout human history. But still, we cannot choose one over the other in this country as Drumpf and Bannon appear to be doing. National religion is Nazi sh*t.

And lest we forget, the Catholic Church has been right in there supporting Nazis and fascist regimes around the world forever, even willingly taking part in murder of innocents. Hence, this guy doesn’t surprise me one bit. In fact, sixty percent of Catholics voted for Herr Cheetolini.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4174674/Priest-posts-meme-against-Trump-COMMIT-SUICIDE.html

My poor elderly strict Catholic mother just couldn’t handle it a few elections back when the bishops sent out their letter that was required reading in all the churches stating that if you voted for Obama, you were endangering your soul to hell because of the abortion issue. THAT is the bizarre world of the Catholic religion in this country.

My mom, who went to church every Sunday of her life, finally stopped going altogether until she could find a church that wasn’t reading that crap every Sunday. And I asked her how she rationalized the church with her beliefs. She said simply that the priests and bishops are not the church, but that the people are the church. And I think that she’s right on that point. The good things being done by Catholics are being done by folks who ignore the bishops. We KNOW what they say about the bishops, and the road to hell being paved with.
