I conducted a poll recently using the survey criteria formulated by the the Montana Family Foundation. I’m pleased to announce that I’m in the lead for the office of President of the United States of America. I’m afraid I can’t release my methodology: who wrote the questions, who conducted the poll or who was contacted. It’s really none of your beeswax.

Same is true for the MFF’s recent poll on transgender students in public schools. No mention of methodology but apparently those polled are really concerned (62 percent) about who’s going potty where. You can see the loaded questions and the responses here.

MFF is sending out an anti-transgender pledge for candidates in Montana races to sign. Here it is. The foundation has also posted the signers, to date, here. Some of the noteworthy names: Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Gianforte and Republican candidate for state commissioner of securities and insurance (formerly known as auditor) Matt Rosendale. Candidate for governor, Ted Dunlap, of the always unpredictable libertarians, also signed the pledge.

(Hat tip to Amanda Curtis for bringing this to my attention.)

UPDATE: After a closer look at MFF’s list of discrimination supporters, I have to ask, what are these two Democratic candidates (Eileen Bach Bech, HD 11, and Linda Johnson, HD 30) thinking?

UPDATE (From Don): While the Montana Family Foundation does list Eileen Bach Bech has having signed the pledge, I confirmed tonight that she absolutely has not done so. While it’s hardly surprising that a group like the Montana Family Foundation would dishonestly report a person’s views, it’s especially reprehensible for the organization to sully someone’s reputation by associating them with a bigoted, retrograde view. Apologies to Ms. Bach Beck for taking the MT at face value, and we will continue to look into the group’s efforts to manufacture support for their hateful agenda.

If you appreciate an independent voice holding Montana politicians accountable and informing voters, and you can throw a few dollars a month our way, we\'d certainly appreciate it.
