This Week in Gundamentalism

Shares

While there is no way we could chronicle all of tragic, absurd dangers the cult of gundamentalism has inflicted on the United States, it’s important to occasionally highlight the human face and overwhelming magnitude of the crisis of gun deaths in the United States. This periodic feature is designed to expose those realities as well as show the truth about the “good guy with a gun” myth.

Missed another one Don. “On March 1, a 65-year-old concealed carry permit holder shot two suspects after they allegedly beat him and began hitting his wife as well. The permit holder, known as “Sal,” was walking down the sidewalk in Queen Village, Philadelphia, with his wife around 8:30 pm when the incident took place. According to 6 ABC, two suspects — 20 and 21 years old — approached Sal and his wife and began to attack. Sal’s attorney, Kenneth Young, said, “He explained he has a firearm. They said they don’t care. They punched him in the face. The whole… Read more »

Another one, same author. “On February 22, 71-year-old Tony Pitts fired three rounds at an alleged home intruder, striking the suspect twice in the chest. Pitts did not answer because of the late hour. Approximately 10 to 15 minutes later, “he heard the sound of shattered glass.” Pitts said, “I’m disabled and somebody kicks the door in, I got to do something.” He pointed to the where he and the… Read more »

sWeed, I can sympathize. Although I’m not exactly disabled, I AM old! I traded the Louisville slugger for the 1911 looong ago! I’m too old to fight and WAY too damn old to run! I feel sorry for the dumb sumbitch that breaks into my house, for I’m ’bout outta options! When it comes to flight or fight or shoot, I’m afraid I’d have to shoot! Now, if I was thirty years younger, the old Louisville slugger would do just fine! And that is pretty much what my home defense weapon was for years.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

“The production of guns has more than doubled since President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009, amid his frequent demands for more gun-control and fewer guns.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has released its annual Firearms Manufacturing and Export Report, which shows that nine million firearms were built and sold in 2014, that’s up from 4.3 million firearms in 2008.-Hawkins (again).

sWeed, your good buddy Levoy Finidumb forgot the first rule of gun fighting. DON’T BE A DUMBAZZ! He fought the law and the law won, he fought the law and the law won! HEY, it’s Oregon. They don’t LIKE a bunch-o morrmon inbreds from Utah ridin’ into town to steal public lands! Wonder if JeeyanFARTey will have better luck here in Montany now that he’s picked his “running mate”! Ever heard of this lady, sWeed? She looks for all the world to be a pick of chucky denoweh, her good buddy! Now, I’m not sayin’ that she isn’t a nice… Read more »
