This Week in Gundamentalism

While there is no way we could chronicle all of tragic, absurd dangers the cult of gundamentalism has inflicted on the United States, it’s important to occasionally highlight the human face and overwhelming magnitude of the crisis of gun deaths in the United States. This periodic feature is designed to expose those realities as well as show the truth about the “good guy with a gun” myth.

According to Bozeman Police Chief Steve Crawford, 26-year-old Wesley Brockmeyer-Barnhart was arrested around 4:35 p.m. outside of his home on the 1200 block of North Ninth Avenue, in the neighborhood just west of Santa Fe Reds.” Bozeman Daily Chronicle

The Firearm Risk Protection Act, unveiled Friday, would require gun buyers to have liability insurance coverage before being allowed to purchase a weapon, and would impose a fine of $10,000 if an owner is found not to have it. Service members and law enforcement officers, however, would be exempt from the requirement.” The Hill

  • Missed Chicago.

“In the first ten days of 2016, three times as many people were shot in Chicago as in the beginning of 2015, the Chicago Tribune reports. There have been 120 shootings leading to 19 deaths this year, seven of them this weekend alone, including two teenagers shot by a liquor-store clerk and another killed at a party just four blocks from Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s house.”-NY Mag.

Of course we all now that Chicago has numerous gun laws and yet it’s a war zone. And if new laws are passed, even nation wide, the criminals won’t abide by them leaving us vulnerable.
