Ryan Zinke

Zinke’s at it Again

Shares

It’s Pogie who usually tracks Rep. Ryan Zinke’s distortions, flip-flops and outright lies.  But Don’s hiking some place in the Pyrenees, I believe, so I’ll be adding this latest one to the Zinke scrap heap.

A young woman bumped into our esteemed Congressman at an airport.  She told him she was a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood and Title X.*  Zinke indicated to her that he was a supporter, too, and was bucking the Republican Party.  Then, last Friday, he voted to defund Planned Parenthood.

I got this info from the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana.  You can read the rest and look at a marvelous photo here.

* Title X is the only federal grant program dedicated solely to providing individuals with comprehensive family planning and related preventive health services.

  • So then, you do know that the words of all politicians are spoken only for effect, and carry no substance. Good for you!

    • This is about funding Planned Parenthood, not global hegemony, and is pretty simple. Zinke said he supported Planned Parenthood and then voted against it. He lied. Any politician from either side of the aisle who says one thing and then votes the other way needs to be held accountable.

      • You go girl! I’m seeing growth here! You’ve certainly got the “R” side down, die to merely paying attention. Now go for “D”. See how they blend!

  • If this “young lady” has any credibility she should come out publicly and give her name, the date of the incident, and the place.

Without those facts this whole story is merely hearsay.

    • The photo seems to verify it. I mean, who would go to the trouble of posting a faux photo and make up that kind of story? And obviously, she did come out publicly – it’s on Facebook. But I’ll forward your concerns to the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana and get back to you.

      • The photo shows Zinke giving her a hug. Period.

As an aside maybe Zinke had time to review some of the undercover videos since this meeting in July. Just maybe he had a change of heart. Just maybe there’s many concerned MT voters telling him to stop what’s transpiring currently at PP. And maybe those numbers exceeds the few “ringers” on Facebook.

        • Let’s look at the big picture, Swede. You know that none of the Title X funding goes to abortions, right? A tiny portion of Medicaid funding goes to abortions in cases of rape, incest or to protect the life of the mother. Ninety-seven percent of Planned Parenthood’s services go to women’s (and some men’s) health care, like cancer screening; STD prevention, testing and treatment, and birth control. And have you considered that less birth control could mean more abortions?

          • Accounting gimmicks Pete, that’s all it is. I’m not going to into the weeds of financial manipulation. Instead I’ll tack into the wind with a proposal that PP makes a public statement to cease and desist with the organ sales. Seems to me that would’ve given politicians cover and effected the vote.

I agree with this author’s notion. If dismembership of living human beings utero threatens all this mana from the Govt., all these other wondrous health services that PP provides then save the ship and cast overboard the more controversial practices.

            But they won’t.

          • Your “accounting gimmicks” line is a cop out, Swede. Please back it up. I’d also like a credible link to Planned Parenthood selling fetus tissue.

You and I will never agree on the pro-choice/pro-life issue. It’s extremely personal and I don’t take it lightly. I don’t believe PP should be vilified, and defunded, because of some sensational video clips, though. Planned Parenthood does good work.

          • One example of the 3% excuse.

“The 3 percent factoid is crafted to obscure the reality of Planned Parenthood’s business. The group performs about 330,000 abortions a year, or roughly 30 percent of all the abortions in the country. By its own accounting in its 2013–2014 annual report, it provides about as many abortions as Pap tests (380,000). The group does more breast exams and provides more breast-care services (490,000), but not by that much. The 3 percent figure is an artifice and a dodge, but even taking it on its own terms, it’s not much of a defense. The 3 percent figure is derived by counting abortion as just another service like much less consequential services. So abortion is considered a service no different than a pregnancy test (1.1 million), even though a box with two pregnancy tests can be procured from the local drugstore for less than $10. By Planned Parenthood’s math, a woman who gets an abortion but also a pregnancy test, an STD test, and some contraceptives has received four services, and only 25 percent of them are abortion. This is a little like performing an abortion and giving a woman an aspirin, and saying only half of what you do is abortion.”

Who put you in charge of women? Don’t you have enough problems just running your own life? And anyway, if you can make sense out of that Bible nonsense, mo power, dude.

    God, out.

      • I was born and raised Catholic and was doctrinaire on the matter of abortion, opposing it in all circumstances as a matter of morality and principle.

I grew up. Life does not lend itself to such purism.
