Dennis Rehberg Lies About Owning Stocks

It seems that Montana’s millionaire subdivision rancher/Congressman has a RomneyDenny Rehberg - Caricature problem: to him, a couple of hundred thousand dollars isn’t anything at all.

The Montana Democratic Party caught Rehberg in another falsehood this past week. While he told Bozeman’s KMMS radio that he “got rid of all my stocks back in 1996 because I never wanted to be charged with any kind of a—a charge like that,” it seems that only thing Mr. Rehberg got rid of was his fidelity to the truth.

In fact, Mr. Rehberg, who claims he is cash poor and struggling like many Montanans, has a pretty healthy investment portfolio.

  • Rehberg Owns $50,001 – $100,000 in Northern Prime Service Obligation Class Funds. According to Rehberg’s 2010 Personal Financial Disclosure, Denny Rehberg owns assets with Northern Prime Service Obligation Class Funds valued between $50,001 and $100,000. [Rehberg Personal Financial Disclosure]
  • Rehbergs Owns $15,001 – $50,000 in American Growth Fund. According to Rehberg’s 2010 Personal Financial Disclosure, Jan and Deny Rehberg owns assets with American Growth Fund valued between $15,001 and $50,000. [Rehberg Personal Financial Disclosure 2010]
  • Rehbergs Owns $15,001 – $50,000 in American Washington Mutual Investors. According to Rehberg’s 2010 Personal Financial Disclosure, Jan and Denny Rehberg own assets with American Washington Mutual Investors valued between $15,001 and $50,000. [Rehberg Personal Financial Disclosure 2010]
  • Rehbergs Owns $15,001 – $50,000 in American New Perspective Fund. According to Rehberg’s 2010 Personal Financial Disclosure, Jan and Denny Rehberg own assets with American New Perspective Fund valued between $15,001 and $50,000. [Rehberg Personal Financial Disclosure 2010]

I don’t care that Mr. Rehberg has a stock portfolio. I do, however, care that he can’t seem to ever tell us the truth—and one does have to wonder what he’s got to hide.
