The Helena School Board will hold an election on May 3, 2011 for a candidate to replace the recently vacated seat held by Trevor Wilkerson for half the time that Sarah Palin was governor of Alaska. The Board will meet Thursday, March 17th at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the election.
Wilkerson resigned at the last regularly scheduled Board meeting, citing the time required of board members in his resignation letter, writing:
As of today, I am resigning my position on the Helena School Board. I didn’t realize the time commitment that was involved in this. I no long have the ability to put as much time into this. In addition, I’ve become aware of many issues.
Candidates interested in filing will need to specify whether they intend to run for the two year replacement term or one of the two three year terms currently held by Aidan Myhre and Cherche Prezeau.
Anyone interested in running for either position must submit a petition with signatures by 5:00 p.m. on March 24.
