HB 309 Hearing Before Senate Committee Tomorrow–Protect Our Access!

Shares

I haven’t fished for a long time, but I know firsthand how important it is to Montana families. Some of my best memories of my father are trips in his battered old Chevy truck, trying to score a few trout on a lazy summer day. My dad and I took part in a tradition in some ways is unique to Montana. Our state has always protected the rights of fishermen and recreationists to access the streams and rivers that are such an important part of what makes Montana Montana. Not every state has given its citizens such expansive access—and if Representative Welborn and a few well-heeled landowners have their way with HB 309, future generations won’t have that access, either.

The Senate needs to protect our stream access. They need to reject this poorly-written law that will lead to another round of litigation and diminished opportunities for all of us to enjoy this amazing state. if you have a moment, be sure to let the Senate Agriculture, Livestock & Irrigation Committee know how you feel before tomorrow’s hearing.
