Seriously, what am I missing?

Shares

I am sure that I am not the only Montana blogger to have asked this question, but when reading the daily tripe over at What’s Right in Montana, a new reader makes this comment:

Great work on this blog. Dems own the press in Montana, so it’s refreshing to have a place to see a different perspective.

Thanks for your work. I know I’ll be a regular reader, and I’m going to tell everyone I know too. I’m sick of people thinking Montana has turned liberal.

I realize that this point appears in every set of talking points that the right puts out, but can someone explain to me how the Montana media is “owned” by the Democrats? If that is the case, why can’t I pick up a Montana newspaper without any article about Burns without having to read Jason Klindt’s talking points repeated without an once of critical analysis (like…if it’s the truth)?

Unfortunately, the only accusations I have seen are simple ignorance. When Don originally found the new What’s Right blog, he noted that their version of bias only exists for those that don’t own a dictionary.

This is a real question for those on the right. PLEASE explain this one to me.

  • Just a thought, but have you considered that “mountaina man” actually is Jason Klindt? Regardless of what Eric wanted to accomplish in starting Freeper Montana, he’s not in control of it any more. It has become a troll haven, an astroturfing playground for the GOP, and worse, the very lunatic echo chamber that they accuse the left of. But for the message to resonate, they have to believe that they are put upon, underrepresented. Hence the loudest echo will always be that the press is in cahoots with the “the left”. Whenever you read that, keep in mind that they’re really claiming that anything not of their view is an attack, and they are very afraid.

  • And they tremble at the sound of our name!

    Thanks for the blurb.

I’m trying to keep down the trolls, but without comment moderation, and allowing anonymous bloggers it’s damn tough. And I still don’t know what to do about trolls hijacking names, but I will delete posts if I’m notified about it.

Give me a couple of months, and either my conservative blog will be proven to be just a curiosity, or we’ll be #1 in Montana!

  • Okay, Eric, since you are reading the blog perhaps you can share your wisdom with us. Show me examples of the media bias in Montana. I know you folks over at What’s Right prefer generalities to specifics but while you are in my neighborhood, perhaps you can shed some light on this subject.

P.S. At no point have I “trembled.”

  • It is their way of indulging in the “why me martyr syndrome”. I suspect that they have some sick addiction to endorphins that are released through self pity parties.

I think it is like the high you get from exercise or productivity, even helping others to achieve their goals, but it seems to have a much shorter half life.
