Wanted: An Active Press

I speak often in my role as an arm-chair media critic, however, the release of Project Censor’s “Top 25 of 2006” list is worthy of close examination. Project Censor releases a yearly report that details stories that weren’t necessarily censored, but received less media coverage than justified based on the facts or nature of the story. You won’t be surprised to see the Iraq and Iraq-related issues are well-covered on the list. Readers of left-leaning blogs will also nod their head when reading their number-one: “Bush Administration Moves to Eliminate Open Government.”

An interesting read, indeed…

  • Excellent find, Al-Neiffer. It is always interesting to see how far the media misses the mark on reporting important stories. On a separate note, I hope that nickname sticks. It works on several levels.
